ANCHOR ROAD

Demolition of existing building and construction of a contemporary  7 storey, harbourside student apartment building comprising of 133 rooms, including 23 apartments and 40 studios. The site constraints included an adjoining casino and busy main road, requiring careful detailing to ensure acoustic performance was met, whilst the proposed site layout consider the re-development potential of the neighbouring site to maximise future expansion.

Following receipt of a successful planning approval, WDA worked closely with MIDAS Construction, leading their design & build team to develop and coordinate the detailed design and construction information, using a number of specialist rapid assembly design solutions including; Metec structural steel framing and pre-fabricated bathroom pods.

The works were complete on site within 15 months to ensure a successful hand-over to the incoming students in the September term. The building utilises a pixelated pattern of clay tiled rain screen cladding, insulated metal cladding and high performance double glazed windows.
