TILA Academy was originally built in the Victorian era. WDA's therefore initially began with a spatial study which showed that some of the classroom sizes were below the standards set by Building Bulletin 99 (Briefing Framework for Primary School Projects). WDA were asked to come up with solutions to re-mediate this, and also address other issues such as the poor sense of arrival and acoustic disruption as the classrooms all backed onto the main hall.
