Riverways comprises a highly contemporary and sustainable addition to the Stoke Gabriel Conservation Area, located on a steep, sloping site facing the River Dart estuary. Planning permission was secured and the inspectors recommended the design be commended and used as a reference in the local conservation area guidance literature. Chris Donoghue developed the clients’ brief to achieve a highly flexible and efficient 4 bedroom property with minimised build cost per square meter, whilst maintaining a sleek and low lying building . The clients selected a specialist PassivHaus Contractors (PassivHaus Homes Ltd) to complete the detailed design and construct their home in accordance with PassivHaus requirements. External finishes are a mix of lime render and western red cedar boarding, with frameless glazed balustrading and bespoke internal oak joinery.
